The coffee is grown in the department of Caldas , located in central Colombia. The coffee grows in the shade (80%) at an altitude of 1500 meters. With an annual precipitation of 1700 mm and average temperatures of 20 degrees, the area is very good for the production of coffee.
Alberto Vallejo is a traditional coffee producer since 1975 when he bought the Finca El Mango. He is leading for the coffee farmers since 1975 when he started to build roads, aquaducts, electricity and arranged education for the locals.
He renovates his coffee plantation by planting new trees, new varieties and he experiences with new sustainable technologies to increase production, as a result of this he got the Rain Forest Alliance Certification a couple of years ago.
Alberto is always active in innovation of coffee production techniques and is also a very active member of the Servicio de Extensión y la Cooperativa de Cafi cultores del Norte de Caldas to share knowledge and experience with the other members.
